If you thought there was no way for the “Twilight” franchise to get any bigger, you thought wrong.
“Eclipse,” the third film in the series, will be shown in the giant-screen IMAX format in addition to its regular release. Both formats will open June 30.

The IMAX release of “Eclipse” will feature digitally remastered sound and images designed to fit the enormous screens of IMAX theaters.
“The IMAX release puts us on the event film calendar for 2010, and we’re very excited to work with IMAX to bring a new kind of film to the IMAX theater network,” says Richie Fay of Summit Entertaiment, which distributes the “Twilight” movies.
“Eclipse,” directed by David Slade (“Hard Candy,” “30 Days of Night”), Bella (Kristen Stewart) will find herself in danger as Seattle is hit by a series of mysterious murders. She’ll also be forced to choose between her love for vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) and her growing bond with werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner).
The second “Twilight” movie, “New Moon,” is approaching the $260 million mark at the domestic box office.
